Database Administrator - Oracle Application

The Database Administrator will oversee the daily operations of the database to ensure that they continue to meet their defined availability targets. Your role will involve on-call rota to support the products 24x7. You will report into the DBA Team Lead.

What you will do:

  • Investigate the cause of queries/problems, and recommending appropriate solutions, including system impact analysis
  • Implementation, support and running of production schema changes within all Experian UK DBMS systems
  • Contribute to the production database systems meeting agreed availability targets – working with EITS System DBAs
  • Schedule and support for routine DBMS application data housekeeping activities within Experian UK
  • Deliver to agreed time, cost and quality whilst controlling scope
  • Escalation of issues to line manager with recommended solutions. Action solutions where authorization permits.
  • Provision of technical updates regarding own activities to management, others in the team, department, and other divisions

Experience and Skills

What you will bring:

  • At least 3 years experience administering Oracle RDBMS in a production/ operational environment
  • Fluent English
  • Knowledge of Oracle Disaster Recovery and High Availability technologies (RMAN, RAC, Dataguard)
  • Experience working within an ITIL style process framework (Change, Incident and Problem Management)
  • Familiarity with Oracle RDBMS features (Multitenancy/ Db Vault/ EBR/ Performance and Tuning) is desirable
  • Good communication within the team or project group, both in sharing experience and in being able to ask for and receive assistance
  • The ability to explain solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
