Cloud Platform Staff Engineer

We are looking for a Staff Engineer to lead the design, development, and evolution of our internal modular cloud platform. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives at the intersection of automation, cloud infrastructure in a modular fashion, security, and compliance, and who is passionate about enabling engineering teams through scalable, secure, and developer-friendly platforms.

As a technical leader, you will drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to ensure our platform meets the highest standards of reliability, performance, modularity and governance.

You will report to the Cloud Enablement Senior Director.

Key Responsibilities:

🛠 Platform Architecture & Engineering

  • Lead the design and implementation of a robust, scalable, and secure internal developer modular platform.
  • Define and enforce modular platform standards, patterns, and best practices across infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps practices using tools like Terraform, Python and FluxCD.

⚙️ Automation & Developer Enablement

  • Build and maintain self-service capabilities for modular infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Partner with application teams to improve developer experience and reduce cognitive load through automation and abstraction.

🔐 Security & Compliance

  • Collaborate with security and GRC teams to implement automated controls, and audit readiness.
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Security Office and other teams to ensure that the platform, services and operational practices lead within the Global Cloud Office meet global compliance standards.
  • Develop and maintain automated compliance reporting and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into control effectiveness and audit readiness.

🤝 Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as a technical mentor and thought leader within the modular platform engineering team and across the organization.
  • Influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align on modular platform strategy and roadmap.
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies and tools that enhance modular platform capabilities.
  • Partner with the Global Cloud Office to align on global compliance initiatives, standardize control implementations, and drive consistency across regions.

Experience and Skills

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.
  • Deep expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP). AWS is preferred.
  • Experience designing and operating large-scale, production-grade platforms.
  • Proficiency in IaC, CI/CD, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and observability tooling.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, TypeScript).
  • Proficient in ITIL processes.
