Senior Director of Software & Operations

  1. Hyderabad
  2. Product Development
  3. Permanent
  4. Hybrid
  5. Full Time

We are looking for a very experienced, commercially minded, results-focused and customer-focused Senior Director to lead the Experian Consumer Services (UK & Ireland) team in Hyderabad. This role is both a people leadership role – leading, managing and developing teams to deliver amazing products to tens of millions of UK consumers – as well as a technical leadership role, driving a focus on best engineering and architectural practices within a modern, cloud-based software stack. In this role, the successful candidate will be acting as a ‘site leader’ for the full team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative and supportive culture, and will be accountable for the operational aspects of the team and the software they build.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as both the de facto ‘site leader’ and ‘thought leader’ for a team of over 50 professionals (and growing), drawn from multiple engineering and product disciplines. Set the tone for how the team operates, inspiring and supporting the team to achieve great outcomes.
  • Build, develop and manage high performing, effective and successful software delivery teams, comprising a range of skills and experience, through either direct or indirect line management. Create an environment that the top talent in Hyderabad actively wants to be part of.
  • Drive the successful delivery of software solutions across multiple product domains. This will require extensive engagement with multiple stakeholders in both the Hyderabad team and the UK team, to ensure that roadmaps are well defined and delivery goals are met.
  • Ensure teams remain aligned with engineering, performance and security standards and ways of working that are in place across the wider engineering team (ECS and Experian more broadly).
  • Set teams up with structures and processes that enable successful delivery. Collaborate closely with UK colleagues to define, understand and implement innovative new processes where appropriate.
  • Build a culture of Continuous Improvement across the Hyderabad team and beyond, driving a relentless focus on delivering ever better experiences for our consumers.
  • Foster a high degree of team ownership and accountability for the software they build, keeping a keen eye on quality throughout the SDLC and into Production and live operation.
  • Build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the business – Product, Customer Service, Risk & Compliance, Finance, SLT and more, both within ECS and the wider Experian community. Work with these stakeholders on strategic prioritisation, and ways of leveraging the benefits of being part of an experienced and diverse global team.
  • Travel to the UK and other global Experian sites multiple times per year to build connections, take part in events, and represent the ECS Hyderabad team.
  • Work with other Business Units in the Hyderabad centre to ensure that ECS team members feel part of a local community. But even more importantly, take personal responsibility for ensuring that ECS Hyderabad team members feel closely connected to their UK colleagues, and play a full and active part in all company events.
  • Manage team performance and development, and drive increased engagement through regular, transparent feedback. Use appropriate reward and recognition mechanisms to ensure our top talent remains focused and motivated, but also act decisively to manage underperformance.
  • Assist CTO and Finance Director with Budget planning and management, and drive a strong awareness of commercial performance across the team.
