UK Compliance Manager

We are looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to report into the Head of Compliance. You will lead in providing practical, proactive compliance advice to our Consumer Services division, assisting the First Line of Defence (1LoD) to identify and manage regulatory risk aligning to our risk appetite. You will also manage three Compliance Advisors.

You will engage with thought leaders in the rapidly changing world of data and advise on different areas, including GDPR, Consumer Credit, Open Banking, Payments, Mortgages, Debt, Wealth and Insurance.

 

  • You will work with stakeholders in the First Line of Defense to implement regulatory risk management practices by providing subject matter expertise and advice on regulatory matters.
  • Provide oversight of and effective challenge to regulatory risks raised by the 1LOD teams to help ensure senior management have an accurate view on the level of regulatory risks in their areas.
  • You will support 1LOD teams to identify, document and improve instances of non-adherence to policy by providing expert regulatory advice on associated risks and remediation activity.
  • Provide guidance to assist 1LOD teams with the development of regulatory controls and help enhance the control environment.
  • Utilisation of regulatory risk assessment tools to assess the impact and likelihood of risks related to new product developments.
  • Provide guidance to First Line teams on the regulatory impact of incidents and loss events and challenge proposed remediation strategies.
  • Work with Advisory Team members and First Line operational Risk Managers to identify areas of high regulatory and conduct risk and help develop the control environment.
  • Collaborate with First Line operational Risk Managers to ensure identified areas of regulatory risk are reported and escalated to operational Risk Management Committees and other appropriate governance forums.

Experience and Skills

  • Compliance and regulatory management experience gained in a FCA regulated organisation
  • Experience leading a team within a compliance environment
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory requirements under other areas of Consumer Duty, FCA Principles, Systems and Controls, Consumer Credit, Payment Services, Open Banking and the regulatory requirements of a Credit Reference Agency
  • Analyse, understand and interpret laws, regulations and policies into actionable advice
  • Excellent engagement skills with experience communicating with senior stakeholders
  • Be inquisitive, invested and investigative and not afraid to challenge or be the only one in the room with a different view
