This role is part of Experian’s Credit and Verifications Services division, where our purpose is to empower and inform decisions through data and innovation. We turn complex data into clear insights that help businesses understand and support their customers. Identity and Fraud (ID&F) relates to a specific product set in this business unit that drives a P&L.

The leadership role will need to ensure world class product development, security and service focus while ensuring scalable cost of ownership for a growing business. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that the capacity, productivity, and engagement of Engineering teams are aligned to the overall strategy. The role will need to provide for technical leadership to ensure solutions are adequately designed and engineered to meet client & customer needs while meeting constraints of time, cost and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the product engineering teams and accountable for creating and nurturing a culture of Engineering Excellence
  • Lead, Mentor, Coach and develop teams, using  characteristics of great leadership to improve team effectiveness and deliver value in line with business strategic direction.
  • Accountable for the UKI Product and Software engineering across ID&F. Use effective MI and metrics to track health of projects, portfolio and engineering estate.
  • Aligning with other business units when ID&F product is required for cross BU delivery.
  • Be an impactful operational escalation point with active decision making to remove roadblocks for the teams.
  • Drive adoption of best practices with test driven development, CI/CD , automated regression leading to high quality and high velocity engineering deliveries.
  • Actively manage and drive down TCO for technology estate with simplification, automation and optimizations.
  • Manage the Security Dashboard such that all items are under management and vulnerabilities are being addressed within risk appetite.
  • Manage operational and delivery risk to maintain risk appetite.
  • Partner with CTO and ID&F MD to shape the strategic direction and workforce planning to ensure that the engineering competence in the Engineering and delivery teams can support the ambition of product management while setting realistic expectations.
  • Partner with other Engineering and Delivery Leaders across the business to lead the team and strategy consistently and collaboratively.
  • Embed an innovation and experimentation mindset in team members, empowering them to own the delivery of end-to-end value for Clients while following clear operational and compliance guidelines.
  • Make use of metrics and measures to drive insight and continuous improvement to ensure the Engineering and Delivery teams are continuously improving (e.g. DORA, Application availability, change failure rate, time to restore, etc) and impediments are processed promptly.
  • Actively work to reduce tech debt ratio, creating a culture within Engineering and Delivery team members that if they touch it, they make it better.
  • Lead continuous service improvement and on-going process maturity through regular reviews of process and tools, trend analysis and metrics reporting through regular engagement with stakeholders.
  • Laser focus on the consideration of customer needs and customer experience targets, as driven by business requirements.
  • Contributes to UK&I Revenue through cost-effective, on time, high-quality engineering and delivery, spanning multiple Portfolios of Work.
  • Embed a broader operating environment that is supportive of Agile delivery-based methods to deliver high end business outcomes.
  • Develop and implements a delivery model to incubate and develop innovative business concepts to allow rapid concept testing and validation.
  • Act as a business change driver at the senior level, applying appropriate organisational change management methodologies as required.
  • Contributes to the Technology Roadmap to achieve business goals/objectives and provide a sustainable platform for future growth and operational needs.

Experience and Skills

  • Software development and engineering leadership experience in modern cloud native platforms.
  • Extensive experience of building and leading teams in a data/financial services environment with a strong focus on enhancing the client/customer experience
  • Knowledge and appreciation of technical design and architectural patterns with regards to modern financial systems.
  • Deep knowledge of agile methodologies and best practice and experience in a scaled agile delivery environment.
  • Experience of managing complex engineering lead delivery organizations that drive valuable customer outcomes.
  • Experience balancing multiple priorities, dealing with ambiguity and thought leadership in areas that may be new to stakeholders.
  • Experience leading and coaching high performing Engineering and Delivery teams, developing team members and supporting them to grow.
  • Experience in the network and security domains related to software engineering & development efforts.
  • Experience in collaborating with diverse global stakeholders. Working effectively with Product teams to ensure quality backlog for engineering delivery teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Can communicate effectively between technical and non-technical audiences across the business.
  • Can navigate the complex landscape of technologies, 3rd party suppliers, internal and cross-department teams.
