As the Hearings Manager, you will manage the hearing process for a dedicated book of clients, manage a team of hearing coordinators, and ensure strategic execution of hearing preparation and representation. You will report to the Director of UI Claims Operations and work fully remote for this position.

You will:

  • Provide comprehensive leadership and strategic oversight to the hearings team and independent contractors.
  • Foster internal team growth and manage independent contractor relationships.
  • Lead coaching sessions to foster development, accountability, and continuous improvement while conducting regular 1:1's in addition to mid-year and annual reviews.
  • Ensure all processes comply with internal audit standards and regulatory requirements while overseeing daily operations including hearing volumes to maintain efficiency.
  • Collaborate with our teams and clients to improve processes and outcomes while delivering feedback to senior leadership on team performance, client trends, and operational challenges to support strategic planning.
  • Be the primary escalation point for complex hearing scenarios and internal team concerns, offering guidance and resolution for high impact accounts or escalated issues.
  • Bring creative and strategic solutions to complex problems and help to evolve processes and team effectiveness

Experience and Skills

You Have:

  • Required Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Legal Studies, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience in unemployment insurance, hearings representation, employer services, or a related environment
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development
  • Experience with multi-state unemployment laws, appeals processes, hearing preparation, employer cost management, outsourced services, or payroll and professional services (e.g. UI, HR, SHRM-CP, CPP)
  • Knowledge of unemployment insurance laws, appeals processes, and hearing preparation
  • Experience managing high-volume operations with efficiency, serving as an escalation point for complex cases, and working in a regulated audit-focused environment at scale
  • Experience collaborating with clients and internal teams to accomplish improved outcomes
  • We prefer candidates with some experience managing or partnering with independent contractors or third-party representatives.
