Senior Software Design Engineer in Test (Remote)

Experian is looking for a Senior Software Design Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Service Quality Engineering team. You will support an enterprise-level data platform built on Java, Python, and Kafka in the AWS Cloud. You'll play a crucial part in ensuring platform reliability and data protection by identifying, and preventing service issues through automation and monitoring. You will report to the Service Quality Engineering Manager. You will work remote in the United States. We developed a Python-based test automation framework using Playwright for end-to-end tests, Pytest for integration, and modern libraries for full automated coverage.

What you'll do

  • Hands-on collaboration as a primary member of the Service Quality team improving platform services
  • Incident ownership from first symptom through eventual resolution
  • Troubleshoot data vendor connectivity and batch processing incidents
  • Perform root cause analysis, documented and managed thoroughly using internal incident management tools
  • Simulate or recreate incident details to debug complex platform issues and decode underlying business logic
  • Design tightly integrated monitoring solutions for evaluation with an emphasis on stability and performance
  • Document troubleshooting and problem resolution steps thoroughly
  • Produce clear and complete root cause analysis and analysis reports
  • Participate in "on call" rotation, including some weekend support and hand-off to our colleagues in India
  • Diligently observe and maintain standards for regulatory compliance and information security
  • Follow Experian's established corporate business practices, internal controls, and procedures designed to create value and minimize risk
  • Develop a test framework written in Python, applying tools and libraries like Pytest and Playwright for automated testing

Experience and Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years supporting commercial SaaS platforms
  • Experience with troubleshooting, validation, and analysis experience
  • Proficiency in AWS and tools like Splunk, Cloudwatch, and DataDog
  • Automation experience across APIs, UI, and performance
