Role Overview

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and evolve analytical data models (facts, dimensions, aggregations, metrics/KPIs), with a strong focus on Gold and Semantic layers, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reusability.
  • Define and enforce data modeling standards (e.g., medallion architecture), ensuring best practices for analytical consumption, including data contracts, grain definition, compliance, and traceability.
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into well-structured datasets and semantic models (metrics definitions, business rules, hierarchies, and conformed dimensions).
  • Ensure high data quality and reliability through testing, validation, monitoring, and cross-layer consistency, reducing rework and increasing trust in data.
  • Optimize performance and cost of data models and queries (Databricks SQL/Delta), including physical design, partitioning strategies, and efficient query patterns.

Experience and Skills

Qualifications

  • Power BI: strong experience with dimensional modeling, semantic layer design, and performance optimization (e.g., model design, cardinality, relationships, query efficiency).
  • Experience with Databricks 
  • Experience with data observability and quality frameworks (tests, expectations, alerts, SLAs).
  • Exposure to advanced analytics (predictive models/ML) and understanding of how reliable, well-modeled data enables these use cases.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the data platform and analytical ecosystem, including governance, cataloging, observability, and development standards.
  • Languages: SQL, Python
