We are seeking a Director, Software Engineering to lead the technology strategy, planning, design, and development of key initiatives within the Marketplace domain of Experian Consumer Services. You are an engineer at heart—someone with a proven track record of building cloud-native platforms, working across a broad range of technologies, and evolving from hands-on engineering roles into a well-rounded, strategic leader. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, cloud-based solutions as we build our next-generation Marketplace platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the sizing, architecture, design, development, and testing of key programs within Marketplace Engineering.
  • Guide the development of technical solutions that are scalable, high-performing, and built with a strong emphasis on quality and maintainability.
  • Lead a globally distributed team of engineers, driving hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management while fostering continuous feedback, skill development, and career growth to build and retain top talent.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product management, and the PMO to align on product roadmaps and quarterly planning.
  • Ensure stable and efficient production operations with a focus on uptime, performance, and reliability.
  • Be hands-on when needed, encouraging innovation and experimentation with emerging technologies to drive platform evolution.
  • Represent engineering in executive forums, providing clear and concise updates on progress, risks, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee engineering budgets, resource planning, and vendor relationships to optimize delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards across all engineering initiatives.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure engineering effectiveness, delivery velocity, and system health.

Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing teams.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native systems using containerized environments and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS).
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, data pipelines, and modern backend frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Server-Driven UI (SDUI) patterns and GraphQL APIs for dynamic, flexible front-end integration.
  • Strong grasp of software design principles, architecture patterns, and engineering best practices, including test-driven development and CI/CD.
  • Hands-on experience with security-first design and implementation in cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire geographically distributed engineering teams.
  • Passion for innovation, mentoring, and fostering a culture of learning and excellence.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay range for this position is listed above. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job-related skills, experience, and education. This position is also eligible for a variable pay opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package.
