Role Summary:

The APAC Revenue team is responsible for the consistent application of global accounting policy for revenue and contract costs, by implementing and maintaining processes and controls to ensure that all associated accounting and forecasting is 100% compliant. This includes a mix of updating contract data for revenue recognition as well as billing and conducting a range of monitoring and review activities to identify any anomalies. Driving process standardization and Revenue Recognition tools new features implementation is key to success.

The APAC Revenue Manager will report to EMAP Regional FP&A, APAC Revenue & Cost Senior Manager in Malaysia and manage a team of 9. On a day-to-day basis he/she will work closely with the APAC Market Controllers and Finance team, Revenue tools team and as well as with Group Revenue Recognition Managers and Global Process Owner who are responsible for the relevant global and/or regional compliance activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Supporting the implementation and maintenance of global processes and controls to ensure that all revenue and contract cost accounting is compliant with the relevant global policy; as well as ensuring the appropriateness of the key technical accounting judgements being made in APAC. 

The role will liaise with a variety of stakeholders, which are likely to include: 

  • Regional Financial Controllers
  • Finance Business Partners
  • Revenue Recognition tools team
  • Members of the Sales function
  • Revenue Accounting teams within GFS and Regions
  • Other members of the global finance organization responsible for revenue or contract cost accounting and forecasting

Key Responsibilities

·       Managing APAC revenue recognition and direct cost (contract cost/data cost).

·     Responsible for revenue recognition compliance, reporting processes and thought leadership, ensuring that the relevant requirements are clearly designed, documented and communicated to all relevant parties. This will include ensuring there are clearly defined Market inputs and determining the appropriate timeline.

·       Manage revenue /direct cost month end close, forecast and reporting activities.

·       Ensure revenue transactions are compliant with Group policy, are suitably documented/evidenced and (where appropriate) monitored at appropriate intervals.

·       Work closely with Revenue tools team to improve system accuracy and adoption.

·       Review and improve end to end revenue processes (contract management, system processing, billing process). 

·    Provide day-to-day support and guidance to the team, ensuring that the global agenda and guidance is clearly understood and that any exceptions or anomalies are identified at an early stage.

·       Examples of activities supported across the team will include:

ü  the delivery of standard global processes and tools for revenue recognition and contract cost accounting

ü  the revenue recognition policy compliance process

ü  training for specialist revenue recognition teams

ü  liaison with and support of both internal audit and external auditors

ü  ensure adequate financial controls are in place to meet the company’s compliance and data security standards.

ü  deliver to key deadlines and key metrics that are critical to Experian

ü  ensure the GFS works within a robust and effective internal control and governance framework to ensure all underlying accounting activity is accurate

 

·      Identify continuous improvement, outlining ways in which global processes could be streamlined and efficiencies obtained across the GFS 

·      Drive the diversity agenda ensuring that all employees are respected, valued and welcomed. 

·      Accomplishes HR objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; employees; communicate objectives and follows up; evaluates performance and recommends actions related to all his/her direct reports.

·       Substantial and demonstrable experience in a Leadership role with people management skills within a global organization.

·     A results-focused, hands-on individual, with an analytical mindset and a track record of developing and implementing new processes and controls – all delivered with a strong Customer and Service focus.

·       A proactive approach to providing updates & feedback to more senior members of the team.

·       Strong Interpersonal & Communication skills – oral and written – particularly in a multi-national environment:

·       Able to communicate across all levels of an organization.

·       Able to influence a broad range of stakeholders within the finance community.

·       A strong courage of conviction, particularly in times of technical ambiguity and/or when under challenge from stakeholders.

·    IFRS accounting experience and technical knowledge – preferably related to IFRS 15 (or equivalent) and/or a background of providing sound technical accounting judgement.

·       Deep knowledge/awareness of the Experian finance systems, especially those relating to revenue accounting, forecasting & Group financial consolidation.

·       Good understanding of the Experian global business and its various products and services

Experience and Skills

Qualifications

  • Professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), with at least 7 years experiences
  • Relevant accounting and/or finance experience in a large multinational organization or a PLC with a matrix business structure would be preferable
