Role Overview

About the Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and eager-to-learn Software Engineer - Java to join our engineering team. You will help build and maintain cloud-native services that process large volumes of data to deliver fast, reliable results. You will partner with experienced engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to the full development lifecycle — from understanding requirements and writing quality code, to deploying and supporting services in production.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to accelerate their growth, work with modern technologies, and contribute to products used by businesses and consumers worldwide.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop & Maintain microservices using Java and Spring Boot, with growing exposure to Spring WebFlux and reactive programming
  • Deploy & Support services on AWS cloud infrastructure (e.g., EKS, S3, SNS/SQS, Lambda)
  • Integrate with search backends such as OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or Solr with guidance from senior engineers
  • Write Quality Code — deliver clean, well-tested code with solid unit and integration test coverage
  • Debug & Investigate — trace and resolve issues across services and infrastructure; participate in incident investigations and contribute to root cause analysis
  • Automate — write utilities and scripts using Bash or Python to support development and operational workflows
  • Collaborate — work with product owners, QA engineers, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver well-thought-out solutions
  • Learn — actively participate in code reviews, pair programming, architecture discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Support DevOps — contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and operational best practices
  • Document — help maintain clear documentation of designs, processes, and technical decisions
  • You will be reporting to an Engineering Manager.

What You'll Bring Required:

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience with Java
  • Solid experience with Spring Boot and RESTful API design
  • Experience with microservices architecture concepts and patterns
  • Good debugging skills — comfortable reading application logs, tracing errors across services, and diagnosing issues.
  • Experience or familiarity with AWS services (e.g., S3, SQS/SNS, Lambda, or EKS)
  • Understanding of software design patterns and clean code principles (e.g., SOLID)
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit 5 and Mockito
  • Familiarity with Maven or Gradle build tools
  • Understanding of Docker and containerization concepts
  • Comfortable with Git and version control workflows
  • Awareness of CI/CD pipeline concepts and practices
  • Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners with a willingness to ask questions, seek clarity, and collaborate openly with the team

Good to Have:

  • Experience with Spring WebFlux or reactive programming concepts
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes (EKS) or container orchestration
  • Experience with search technologies such as Solr, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch
  • Comfort with Bash or Python scripting for automation and tooling
  • Exposure to performance testing tools (Gatling or similar)
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures or messaging systems such as Apache Kafka, SQS/SNS
  • Awareness of observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk, Grafana)
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Exposure to distributed systems and scalable architectures
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional or globally distributed teams

Why This Role?

  • Work on systems that matter — powering decisions for millions of consumers and businesses
  • Learn from experienced engineers and tackle real-world challenges in scale and performance
  • Build a strong foundation in cloud-native, distributed systems engineering
  • Grow your career in an environment that values curiosity, initiative, and learning
