Senior Manager – Data & Technology Risk 2LoD

Support the Global Head of GRC Enablement, Data and Technology Risk in overseeing and governing risks associated with data and technology across Experian. This includes driving improvements in risk operations through the strategic adoption of emerging technologies. Emerging technologies could encompass AI, IoT, quantum computing, and crypto, as well as their applications within broader technology and data domains —such as collaboration tools, unstructured data, and other evolving areas.

As a people leader, the role also involves managing and developing a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The role provides subject matter expertise, support, and independent challenge to the First Line of Defence (1LoD), ensuring that emerging technology risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a global subject matter expert in data and technology governance and risk, contributing to the development and maintenance of related policies, standards, and control frameworks.
  • Provide independent 2LoD challenge, guidance, and support to 1LoD teams, promoting awareness and embedding governance requirements into operational practices.
  • Collaborate with global functions—including Compliance, Legal, and Security—to ensure alignment with GRC principles and regulatory obligations.
  • Partner with regional Heads of Risk to support the implementation of data and technology risk practices across geographies.
  • Lead or contribute to the preparation of risk assessments, reports, and insights for senior management, governance forums, and external stakeholders.
  • Assist to shape and drive the strategic direction for the adoption of emerging technologies within Global Risk, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and driving enhancements in risk management capabilities, operational resilience, and innovation.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of risk professionals, ensuring clear objectives, regular feedback, and opportunities for growth and development.
  • Foster an inclusive and high-performance culture, promoting collaboration, accountability, and innovation across the team.
  • Manage resource planning, performance reviews, and succession planning, ensuring alignment with business needs and individual career aspirations.

Experience and Skills

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in data and technology governance, risk, and compliance within fast-paced environments such as technology, FinTech, or IT services.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and industry frameworks related to emerging technologies (e.g., NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001).
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse global teams and functions, with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex business operations and risk exposures, and develop clear, actionable mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to and influencing senior leadership.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., data science, AI, risk, technology); professional qualifications in emerging technologies governance or risk management are desirable.
  • Proven experience in people leadership, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
