Role Overview

We are looking for a Data Engineer to enhance Tenderlink, a platform that connects buyers and suppliers by streamlining tendering, procurement, and contract management processes.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Data Quality & Innovation, this is a hands-on technical role responsible for independently designing, building, optimising, and enhancing data pipelines that power Tenderlink data assets. You will focus on ensuring high-quality, reliable, and scalable data ingestion, including web scraping and integration of data sources into an in-house ETL data studio.

 

You will apply advanced technical expertise and judgement to complex data challenges, supporting the continuous improvement of Tenderlink data coverage, accuracy, and. Working with Product, Technology, and Commercial teams, it translates data engineering and improvement plans into production-ready solutions that enhance platform value and client outcomes.

 

What you'll need to bring to the role & Experian

 

  • You can identify opportunities, assess value, and balance innovation with data quality and risk considerations.
  • Experience in data engineering, data automation, ETL, or similar technical data roles.
  • Hands-on Python skills for data processing, automation, and web scraping, with knowledge of SQL for data extraction, validation, and analysis.
  • 4+ years of experience with structured data formats such as CSV, Microsoft Excel, and JSON, with a clear understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and pipeline concepts.
  • Practical experience in web scraping using tools such as BeautifulSoup, requests, Selenium, and pandas, issues related to site changes, pagination, dynamic content, and inconsistent layouts.
  • Experience with data quality principles including completeness, accuracy, consistency, validity, and, and their impact on downstream analytics and products.
  • Experience scheduling and monitoring automated jobs, with the ability to investigate failures and ensure reliability of data pipelines.
  • Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners, with the ability to translate technical findings into practical recommendations for all kinds of partners.
  • Operate in agile environment.

 

Work that matters - What you'll do

 

  • Tenderlink Data Operations & Support - Support the ongoing operation, monitoring, and optimisation of Tenderlink data pipelines, ensuring reliability, completeness, and. Maintain web scraping and ingestion processes, resolving failures and data inconsistencies.
  • Data Engineering & Automation - Build data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and enrichment of structured datasets. Implement automation to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and ensure scalability of data processes.
  • Innovation & AI Enablement - Identify opportunities to improve data coverage, matching, and enrichment through new data sources, automation, and AI-enabled approaches. Lead and contribute to pilots, proofs of concept, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Proof of Concept & Delivery - Support the development and transition of improvement plans into production-ready solutions, ensuring appropriate data quality checks, monitoring, and documentation are in place.
  • Governance, Risk & Assurance - Ensure all data processes align with governance and regulatory requirements. Provide analysis to support audit, assurance, and data quality risk assessments.
  • Partner Collaboration - Partnering with Product, Technology, and Commercial BU partners, you will provide technical guidance and translate business and progress requirements into scalable production-ready data solutions.

Experience and Skills

  • 4–8 years' experience in a data analyst, data engineering, or similar role, with exposure to data quality, automation, or analytics programs.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and data processing (ETL) workflows, including automation and web scraping use cases.
  • Exposure to Browse AI web scrapping tool
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments, with good collaboration
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with users.
  • Degree in Data, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
