  • Supervision of the income and direct tax teams and responsibility for the building and strengthening of relationships with other individuals and groups within the Company to ensure the Tax Department is effectively serving our business partners. Responsibility for building an effective and productive team that consistently seeks to deliver value added services that increase shareholder value.
  • Monitor relevant developments in US tax policy and legislation. Communicate implications for Experian.
  • Work with the Group and local finance teams, payroll, HR, the legal department and others in the global organization to evaluate the tax impact of commercial transactions, including M&A work, and considering ways of mitigating tax exposures
  • Review tax process control documentation, tax policies and procedures, and disclosure controls to ensure they are effective, maintained, and updated in accordance with all legal requirements, Company and Group standards
  • Identify and execute opportunities for process improvements and efficient use of resources within the global organization as they affect tax planning and structuring. Maintain effective deployment of process, technology and data to optimize the impact of the tax function
  • Oversight over the preparation of appropriate tax provisions in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP for Group reporting purposes; associated with the following jurisdictions - USA, Canada and Mexico and directly liaising with local advisors regarding Costa Rica and Chile.
  •  Delivery of consistent US ETR and cash tax, in line with budgets and expectations. No surprises.
  • Direct the management of federal, state and international income tax compliance across 50 states and other jurisdictions noted above.
  • Direct the review of information provided for the income tax provision and income tax return compliance.
  •  Direct the management of federal, state and international tax audit process, including the management of the relationships with the external tax authorities and the evaluation of any proposed assessments.
  • Oversee the process for evaluating and pursuing various tax incentives and credits at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Oversee indirect taxes such as sales/use tax, property tax and VAT, including the compliance process, provision/accounting, and any associated audit process, including negotiations of audit settlements.
Management and Communication
  • Directly manage staff in Costa Mesa and Nebraska and external resources.
  • Manage relationship with the KPMG tax audit team including ability to discuss issues with technical expertise.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Aptitude for simplifying complex tax issues into key messages and insights.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is required with 12+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and corporate tax accounting.
  • Advanced degree in Taxation/Accounting or MBA
  • CPA required.
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • Significant experience successfully leading a team of tax professionals.

Technical Skills:
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office necessary, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience with Oracle or any other large ERP system preferred
  • Experience with other financial or tax preparation software and systems
