Senior Director, Data Strategy and Acquisition

The Senior Director, Data Strategy/Acquisition will be responsible for the acquisition of data assets that support Experian Marketing Services Targeting business, including data assets that compile Experian’s ConsumerView database, one of the industry’s largest consumer demographic/behavioral databases as well as the managing the acquisition of Experian’s growing repository of digital marketing data assets. This position will be responsible for developing the overall Experian Targeting data strategy and executing on the acquisition and optimization of data assets within the Targeting Data Office.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Identifying and evaluate potential new data partners to expand, enhance and improve Experian’s existing data set
• Ensure data acquisition efforts/strategy are aligned with the Targeting Business’ strategy and supports the Innovation team in creating new products
• Assessing/testing new data assets
• Negotiating and acquiring new data
• Executing licensing agreements
• Managing complex partner relationships
• Driving cost management initiatives
• Providing guidance on leveraging and monetizing data assets within Targeting and across the organization
• Engages with internal stakeholders to determine data requirements and value of data/ROI
• Work with Global Sourcing to execute Data Licensing agreements/other with partners/vendors.
• Engage with legal and privacy teams to review data assets and proposed uses of data to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor data vendors on an on-going basis to ensure compliance with data/privacy regulations.

MA/MS/MBA preferred.

10+ years of experience in a data acquisition/partnerships
3+ years managerial experience.


Knowledge / Skills

• Advanced knowledge of the direct marketing industry.
• Extensive knowledge of offline and online data assets and providers in the direct marketing industry
• Ability to think strategically
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of federal, state legislation as it relates to the Direct Marketing business and and Privacy regs. Good understanding of CCPA and obligations on data collectors
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
• Excellent reasoning and decision analysis skills.
• Presentation skills.
• Advanced experience working with data products, either in acquisition, development or evaluation
• Strong analytical skills
• Experience in vendor management, RFPs, and contract negotiations
• Ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders the value of data
• Fluent in data and data regulatory landscape

Preferred locations in Schaumburg, IL; Costa Mesa, CA; Lincoln, NE, New York City, NY, but open
