Product Management Director - Commercial Insurance Job Duties:

  • Be the voice of the client internally to ensure client specifications are met during development and manage the development of product definitions and functional requirements.
  • Serve as an Experian insurance/insuretech resource in the areas of competitive intelligence, market knowledge and go-to-market strategies and manage our bulk data product line.
  • Develop and execute new insurance product initiatives and projects, primarily focused on the product lifecycle for Experian’s commercial insurance solutions.
  • Sponsor compliance with Experian data security and privacy requirements. In addition, you will stay current with evolving governmental data privacy requirements such as GDPR as they may apply to the Insurance product roadmap(s).  
  • Support ongoing relationships and strategic alignment with product stakeholders for key customer accounts.
  • Present, or support presentation of, key concepts of Experian insurance products to industry groups such as Summits, Roundtables, etc. as needed.
  • Works with the BU leaders to understand the innovation strategy and work with the leaders to bring the top strategy initiatives to the Data Lab
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders across business units and Data Lab, including product managers, marketing operations, technology and engineering, data scientists, sales, legal and compliance to ensure proper coordination and execution of Innovation projects
  • Partner with the Data Lab and the Business Unit on client partnership and outreach to define needs and value including identification of consumer & client needs, trends, new product concepts, marketing plans and Go to Market strategies
  • Collaborate within a scrum team and other cross-functional team members.
  • Ability/willingness to travel ~10-20%.


Essential Functions:

  • Gather market feedback around product positioning, pricing and revenue, competitor products, and translate into the launch of compelling product offerings that meet market needs
  • Be a self-starter when it comes to determining product priorities, including new features & initiatives that drive your product line forward
  • Evangelize your product internally and externally through new sales opportunities, high impact presentations, demos and development of relevant collateral (e.g. online demos, promotions, white papers, case studies, etc.)

  • Requires a minimum of 10+ years of relevant product management and insurance industry experience
  • Deep knowledge of commercial insurance underwriting and the data used for risk assessment
  • General knowledge of the insurance industry and practices including Property & Casualty, Life & Annuity, Health, and Reinsurance
  • Previous hands-on experience working with data-driven solutions required
  • Previous experience modeling insurance industry key outcomes, e.g., actuarial risk, prospecting, pricing, etc.
  • Proven track record in utilizing analytical tools & metrics for both managing product portfolios and creating product road maps
  • Familiar, based on previous hands-on experience, with major technological elements of our industry such as workflows, processing platforms, data warehouses, programming languages, data communications (expecially APIs) and, software development technologies
  • Fundamental understanding of core Agile principles including: writing user stories, managing a backlog while articulating the product vision to the scrum team
  • Prior experience working with JIRA and Confluence a plus
Formal Training/Education:
  • Bachelor degree required
  • MBA preferred but not required
  • Position is located in Costa Mesa, CA
