The Role

The Loss Event & Issue Manager role is a key role within the UK&I business and plays a pivotal role in the embedded 1st Line of Defence risk model in Experian, reporting into the Experian Information Technology Services (EITS) Risk & Control Director. This role will provide support to the Exec and senior management of EITS in driving improvements in the quality and resolution of issue and loss event management. This role requires the ability to successfully influence SME’s / senior leaders to drive through the corrective actions required to resolve loss events and issues.

Issue Management (including Policy Deviations and Risk Acceptances)

Supporting EITS in ensuring it complies with all internal policies, standards and reporting deadlines with regards to Issue Management.

Working with the EITS leadership team, proactively manage the remediation of Issues – including the Policy deviations and risk acceptance process and obtain relevant approvals where issues meet these requirements

Lead regular meetings with senior management and risk owners / SMEs to review progress of issue remediation and maintain Issue records within GRC

Facilitate Issue Owner approval of Issue acceptance / closure with risk owners / senior leadership

Completion of ‘Past Due’ (PD) Issue forms for all Issues with a PD Hard Target Date (HTD)

Completion of ‘Risk Acceptance’ Forms for any Issues where no remediation planned

Supporting the EITS Risk & Control Director in facilitating BU MD and Issue Owner review and approval of any PD forms / Risk Acceptances

 

Loss Event (LE) Management

As part of a wider centralised Loss Event team for the UK, raise LEs in GRC for any identified events within aligned BU

Transfer of LE ownership to the causal BU if different

Initial and ongoing LE Exec notification and status updates, to include Regulatory notifiable event updates

Establish customer & financial impacts and conduct Root Cause Analysis

Lead regular meetings to review progress of LE remediation

Facilitate LE remediation (if necessary) and closure, including LE Owner and governance function approval of closure

Completion of PD forms, including facilitating BU MD and LE Owner review and approval of any PD forms

Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

Perform the ‘5 Whys’ or equivalent method of RCA for all LEs to establish the true root cause

Identify corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence and create as Issues in GRC

Share RCA / Corrective actions with Loss Event Forum to ensure lesson’s learnt across UK&I BU’s

Record full details of the RCA (i.e. the RCA worksheet) in GRC, as well as the Loss Event categories.

What are we looking for?

Experience in a risk environment

Previous experience within Financial Services preferred

Experience in working within a line 1 Operational Risk function

A strong understanding of Financial and Operational Risk Management and assessment within a regulated environment

The ability to accurately undertake detailed root cause analysis assessments on complex issues and loss events

An understanding to implement effective controls in the provisions of data

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior leaders / stakeholders and gain acceptance, support and commitment across multiple stakeholders

The ability to develop clear, efficient and logical approaches to work

Advanced problem solving and analytical skills

Excellent multitasking abilities with proven skills in prioritising both personal workloads and those of others via matrix management Excellent reporting skills with a clear focus on accuracy

Desirable: A track record of problem solving and ability to perform effective root cause analysis on issues and incidents

Comfortable in challenging the current process/way of thinking
