WORK LOCATION: NOTTINGHAM (work from home until further notice)

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and driven Senior IT Buyer to join our evolving Global Procurement Team which is comprised of 75 people located in USA, UK&I, EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America and manages excess of $1.5bn spend.

Our UK&I team consists of 14 members, based out of Nottingham, specialising in various professional categories including; IT, data, professional services, HR and facilities.
This role will reporting to the IT Category Manager who you will be working with at Experian’s European Data Centre, on projects across several categories within IT and Telecoms including software, hardware and services most likely developing a specialism with a dedicated portfolio in the future.

This is a very exciting time to be joining the Global Sourcing Team as we invest in new and innovative technologies, elevate systems and processes and identify new ways to be more globally aligned (i.e. across EMEA, APAC, USA etc.) – we’re looking for someone entrepreneurial who can bring new ideas to the table and drive the Global Procurement function to the next level!

In return, we invest in our team members by creating a hub for knowledge share across all categories, provide funding and support for CIPS, and encourage job rotation and international assignments.


So what are we looking for?

  • Experience in engaging in detailed, and sometimes high-level, complex negotiations (multi-million £ deals) with vendors, with the ability to challenge, influence ideas and consult
  • Collaborate with the Procurement Legal representative to assess risk amongst contracts on behalf of Experian
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proactively influence internal clients / stakeholder
  • Demonstrate versatility to work with various project teams that manage Experian’s complex supply chain
  • To manage and deliver sourcing events e.g. RFx, e-auctions and contract renewals 
  • Strong analytical capability when handling bids, markets and spend, and to be able to challenge where necessary  
  • Act with diligence when raising Purchase Orders to commit Experian to any external spend
  • To self-monitor targets across cost efficiencies, internal client satisfaction, sound contracts, proactive portfolio management

The type of person who would suit this role will demonstrate the following attributes;

  • A confident and experienced negotiator with experience in handling detailed negotiations with suppliers up to senior levels
  • Proven track record of having engaged with and influenced internal mid-senior level stakeholders
  • A keen interest in data analysis for pricing, bids and business cases to ensure more informed business decisions
  • Experience and knowledge of UK contract law is desired
  • Flexible and agile to respond to changing to business needs without losing sight of the strategic deliverables.
  • Strong commercial acumen – a maximiser rather than satisfier “hunter not a farmer”
  • Evidence of having personally led and delivered – not just “part of the team that...”
  • Evidence of having made great cost savings and challenged the status quo
  • Helpful, but not essential, to have worked within a complex, matrix organisation
  • Adopts an organised and efficient work practice
  • Maturity and experience to manage a high workload at times, but can remain resilient and work well under pressure
  • Excellent relationship building skills i.e. team player, direct at times but diplomatic at others, a good influencer and communicator
  • Solid IT buying experience, ideally with Enterprise sized organization but SME’s OK too

We’re a fun team, so a sense of humour would be great!

Full driving licence and own transport is preferred.
