BUSINESS & ROLE CONTEXT:


DA has a strong Analytics capability, embedded in the DA regions & concentrated in our business lines - Credit Services, Decisioning, Fraud/ID and Analytics.


In FY17, Analytics generated circa $250m in revenue across Experian, with 97% of the revenue dominated in products and projects associated with our bureau data. Just over 50% of our Analytics revenue today is concentrated in the Financial Services market with the remainder spread across a wide variety of verticals, most noticeably Retail, Telco, & Utilities.


The Analytics market is evolving rapidly and Experian see material opportunities to accelerate growth by capturing a far greater share of our addressable market. We will effect this by leveraging our internal bureau data to protect and expand our leadership position in credit risk attributes and models, as well we expanding into new verticals and different types of analytical modelling techniques.


Globally, Experian has circa 800 Analytics people (Data Scientists, Analytics Consultants, Analytics Modellers & Engineers) and given our matrix based structure these Analytics teams / resources are based in and report directly into the regions.


To further exploit the Analytics opportunity we will need to evolve our go to market approach, which will entail re-purposing &/or building new critical capabilities.


We have recently effected a significant piece of work across the Experian business that creates a change roadmap of activity and which has highlighted the need to bring in impactful individuals who will stitch together and drive global initiatives for our transition from traditional (regionally & heavily FS focussed )  analytics to scalable global products and propositions that will seize new market  share and drive growth of the DA business.


We are looking for experienced data scientists and analytics modellers with recent hands-on experience in building and validating consumer credit models, as well as familiarity with latest data science methodologies, tools and platforms.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with the other regional analytics teams and enabling functions across the globe and the Experian Data Labs, a network of innovation and development hubs around the world, formed of advanced data scientists and harnessing leading technology platforms to drive research and development on future commercial offerings.

 

Resources - The role holder will have access to and work collaboratively with the regional analytics teams. In addition, the role holder will be part of a core, highly motivated self-driven central team lead by the EVP to drive and deliver the Analytics change plans.


ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:


Execute specific initiatives globally to build core technical capability from which to create truly scalable analytical solutions. Automate and Empower - drive out cost of model development and tuning, using machine learning to reduce and eliminate effort, enable analytics practitioners and leads across regions through technology that simplifies complex model creation. Enable supporting platforms, process and technologies to Scale and ease effort and cost of data preparation and ingestion regardless of number and type of resources:

 

o Execute global projects to support the access by our analysts in each region, to a common technical stack and relevant data, to enable advanced analytics,
o Execute evaluation projects and the selection process for technology evolution with our global and regional technology, data lab and business teams.

Contribute to RFI’s and tightly scoped POC and pilots.

Drive productization as identified and globally applicable, to drive growth & scalable offerings to meet our addressable market. Reuse what we have – work on defining propositions and bringing our analytical insights to scale through bundling and reuse. Execute on initiatives to embed advanced analytics in software for automated optimisation of analytical models – deliver value to clients constantly, without direct FTE input:

 

o Collaborate with Global & Regional DA product colleagues to understand and optimise analytics capabilities across the portfolio
o Support the evolution of our software platforms, to align with and ultimately embed as appropriate, advanced analytical offerings


Support initiatives to drive and build global operational excellence across our Analytics capability:


o Collaborate with Regional Analytics Leads on organisational capability – structure, roles, methods, tools, processes, culture etc – with a view to jointly defining & exploiting further opportunities that will drive for rapid transition from project to product, including definition of standard bundles and dedicated product capacity
o Closely work with HR to support global initiative on Best-in-class Analytics Employee Value proposition.
o Closely support HR and regional skills leads on execution of continuously evolving Analytics skill development initiatives.
o Perform evaluation of third party tools; to increase the sophistication and productivity of our analytics teams, and to create associated analytical capabilities to offer to our clients
o Work across central and regional teams to create operational excellence at all levels
o Contribute to knowledge and best practice sharing across regions to identify key projects with potential of global reuse and productization.


KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Strong hands on advanced analytics experience first and foremost, with demonstrable track record of driving complex data science projects with exposure to financial services and other relevant industries.

 

Exposure to and domain knowledge of big data architecture, engineering and data science platforms and machine learning/deep learning models with sound understanding of topics like model explainability, governance, maintenance and exposure to other emerging AI general application fields and topics

 

Significant demonstrable project experience on unstructured data analytics including exposure to real time decisioning products and associated workflows

 

Extensive experience building, training and validating machine learning models of all levels of sophistication in Python and/or R, with a strong knowledge of both industry standard and emerging open source packages and tooling.

Sector background likely to be from global financial services / fintech, data or software markets.

-Bachelor’s Degree in a numerical subject is most likely
-Masters level qualification or higher is preferred but not essential
