This is a high impact role, where the right candidate has an opportunity to work with some of the most exciting technologies in data, analytics and decisioning.The candidate will have an opportunity to work and support driving our products forward, as well as be part of a wider team that is driving a platform approach.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and leadership. You will be part of the local management team and be responsible for providing line management for two teams, supporting them with decisions, processes & tools and mentoring them to grow.

You will be expected to provide support to developers and testers in the form of design and code reviews and be responsible for providing the right guidance to the team.

From a technical perspective you will be expected to understand design patterns, code, testing, dependency management, integration, 3rd party libraries and tools. You will provide technical expertise in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance for existing and new, high-volume, data intensive systems.

Primary Accountabilities:

·Leading a team consisting of product owners, developers and testers to deliver on their goals through the full SDLC.

·Providing line management, mentoring and supporting the team with decisions, changes in processes and identifying better tools to use.

·Reporting progress, metrics, risks upwards to the development manager and wider across global stakeholders where appropriate.

·Become a key member of the Nottingham management team, inputting into team direction, making improvements, driving the team forward and promoting across our global group.

·Responsible for reviewing design, code and quality delivered from the team and challenging where appropriate to improve.

·Contributing to the development of new modules and enhance existing modules in line with the existing product architecture.

·Facilitate and contribute to solution design sessions and support the production of accurate estimates for development work.

·Work closely with key stakeholders to understand the software requirements and ensure your team are delivering what is expected of them.

·Self-manage to plan and organise your time so that all work is completed satisfactorily and meets agreed deadlines

·Possesses the ability to explain complex solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.

Significant Demands:

·Leadership experience within a software development environment.

·Strong background in software and enterprise technology.

·On-premise enterprise system experience is beneficial.

·Hands on approach to ensure successful delivery.

·Fast learner – can quickly get up to speed with vast complex solutions and knows how to acquire knowledge.

·Senior management and stakeholder relationship is key to success in this role.

·Leadership across global teams and working with different cultures across different time-zones.

·Engages with developers, testers and stakeholders to support with all work requirements.

·Works as part of an agile team and communicate progress and regularly present at different levels.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications


·Educated to degree level or equivalent working experience


·Broad/Proven work experience in software development and leadership.

·Able to work at strategic, as well as detail, level and can engage with stakeholders across a wide range.

·Strong leadership capabilities ensuring a highly performing and engaged team

·Passion, creativity, deep expertise, openness, flexibility and drive. Practicality and common sense are essential

·We want you to have a keen interest in the business, not just a given technical problem; understanding the big picture and how your work fits into it

·Broad experience of Agile delivery and knowledge of Agile techniques such as User Stories, Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), Test-driven development (TDD), Continuous Integration & Delivery and Automated Testing etc.

·Strong interpersonal, written and presentation skills – service orientation, collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills, situational awareness and conflict resolution.

Technologies, Languages, frameworks

Experience and exposure to as many of the following as possible would be advantageous:

·Proven experience delivering large, complex, high quality software applications.

·Broad experience of Java application development.

·Experience with Continuous Integration, deployment and Build Automation processes.

Key Behaviours:

·Excellent communication skills (presentations, conveying complex messages and interactions). Written and verbal fluency in English is required.
