We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR/employee relations professional to join our HR team, based in Nottingham.
This role sits within our newly created HR Delivery team and reports directly to the Head of HR Delivery, whilst managing a small team of HR professionals. This role will predominantly manage ER case work, and will be responsible for managing and coaching the team. This is a great role for someone with extensive HR/employee relations experience looking to broaden their career with a global, market leading business within a well established, high performing HR team.
Who are the HR Delivery team?
The team are responsible for the 'front door' to HR. We provide our employees with a first class HR service and this role will be responsible for managing a small team made up of a Senior ER Consultant and HR Advisors whose primary focus is in providing employment and policy advice, whilst supporting managers in applying formal procedures so that people, employment and legal risks are managed effectively.
With a team case load of c.600 cases per annum, you will also be responsible for managing your own complex and senior employee cases, and be able to provide proactive commercial employment and legal advice to managers in these cases.
What is the Lead Employee Relations Manager responsible for?
You will work closely with HR Business Partners and other HR colleagues to ensure the proactive management of HR issues, whilst providing coaching and guidance to your team to ensure a consistent and robust approach to case management. You will deputise for the Head of HR Delivery and will have specialist responsibility for ER case management.
You can expect to be responsible for:
  • Delivering an efficient ER case management service through a team of specialist advisors to ensure employment and legal requirements of formal procedures are managed compliantly and risk mitigated and which support the Experian employment brand and drive positive attributes of trust, service & quality.
  • Leading ER and HR advice and case management across the UK&I business to ensure ER case SLA and KPI targets are achieved, to enable the business to maintain operational activity to a high standard through effective management of absence, performance and conduct
  • Regularly reviewing and developing policy and HR processes as required to ensure ongoing legal compliance and to drive continuous improvement, in particular in relation to formal procedures and other activities within the scope of the role.
  • Collaborating with the HR Business Partner community to provide resources and documentation to support employment workstreams of M+A, transitional change and redundancy projects once due diligence completed.
  • Responsible for execution of effective Experian People Forum / representative body to meet collective consultation requirements
  • Champion a culture that support the achievement of business goals, delights customers and keeps consumer advocacy at the heart of everything that Experian does. Promote great service and seek to exceed client / consumer expectations.
  • Leading a team of HR professionals, ensuring that all team members have stretching personal objectives, development plans and regular reviews to embed a high performance culture
  • Identify and develop high potential employees, and ensure an available talent pipeline to meet business and capability

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications

What are we looking for?
This role would suit someone with broad generalist HR experience - you don't need to come from a similar sector/business but it would be ideal if you have experience in a complex, matrix environment.
We're looking for:
  • Deep understanding of employment law and regulations with extensive experience of applying and this is a commercially focused HR/ER environment.
  • Considerable experience of formulation and development HR policy
  • Track record delivering employment advice on employment regulations and HR processes and services
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders
  • Proven experience leading a team/experience building line manager skills through coaching, training and mentoring
It would be a bonus if you are CIPD qualified or have any other professional qualifications within employment law/HR, but this is not essential.
